Community Spirit

Once the project is underway we intend to encourage some community spirit in the form of fun activities for all ages such as…

Harvest week – When the trees start to drop their apples we are sure community members will come on down to make use of the fruit, whilst meeting over tea and cake.

Apple themed bake off – with fruit from our own orchard! We know this community are proud of their culinary skills. So following harvest we will offer baskets of apples to be taken away, converted into something scrumptious and entered into a food competition.

Some of our community members have suggested converting apples into cider which can be used at the Chapel’s existing ‘pop up pub’ events. All cider naming suggestions are welcome!

For all members (young and old) we would encourage them to get crafty in the orchard and meadow! For example, this website will host a new page for artwork created by the local community. Annually we will have a competition winner for the best art work, with age categories for our younger members to be in with a chance of winning!

Come and join us in building bug hotels, toad abodes, hedgehog houses and bat lofts. Watch nature flourish in our special space. Westhumble’s community is especially proud of being in an AONB and we want to maintain the flora and fauna of the area to encourage all of nature’s creatures.
